Nokia abandons the mobile business: The biggest shocker (and what I suspect will be my most controversial prediction), though, will be the the departure of Nokia from the phone business as the company sells its mobile operation and infrastructure divisions to Huawei in order to focus on software and services. With the company’s bet on Windows 8 having failed in the marketplace, it will see Microsoft and Huawei competing for the mobile device division and will eventually sell its smartphone group to Microsoft and the rest of its telecom interests to Huawei.

5) Nokia and RIM are roadkill
Nokia is parted out as the Lumia phones fail to gain enough traction to bring meaningful profits. The infrastructure division has been heading towards a spinout for some time, the emerging-markets Asha line is a natural fit for a Chinese or Taiwanese partner, the maps division finds a home at Apple, and Microsoft buys some of the smartphone division assets while launching its own branded Windows Phone handsets. RIM finally releases something and proves that a tree falling in the forest with no one around may indeed not make an audible ringtone. Oracle buys most of the carcass.
